Newcastle and Saranac are two properties located in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston that are both on the National Registry of Historical Buildings.
Originally constructed as apartments, Newcastle and Saranac house 97 units, just steps away from the heart of downtown Boston. Meticulous planning and coordination were undertaken with a historical consultant to bring both of these properties back to their former glory. The project included new windows with historical panning and interior screens as well as a full restoration of stained-glass transoms that included replacing missing transoms with matching stained glass. Restoration and waterproofing were completed at the 7 Saranac copper bays and the 5 Newcastle metal bays. Beyond the historical work, Keith Construction installed new DHW and heating boilers with Embue Systems along with new roofs, exterior doors, FA and a new complete FP system. All the units were brought up to code and new finishes were installed throughout.
